Following discussions with Manchester United officials Tuesday, Wolves granted Cunha permission to undergo a medical and finalize the 26-year-old Brazil international's move to Old Trafford, Ornstein adds.
Manchester United reportedly hope to complete the deal after the summer transfer window opens June 1.
Cunha, recently called up to Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil squad for World Cup qualifiers, was linked with Arsenal and Nottingham Forest in the winter before g an extension with Wolves until 2029.
The extension included requiring a transfer fee to be paid across three installments, with the full amount due within two years, per The Athletic. However, United reportedly proposed paying over five years instead.
Cunha's impending arrival will be the first in what's expected to be a busy summer for United boss Ruben Amorim. The Portuguese coach is looking to rebuild his squad after a historically bad Premier League season in which Manchester United finished in 15th place.
Cunha scored 15 Premier League goals for a Wolves side that placed one spot below United, in 16th, on goal difference. He had seven more goals than Manchester United's t top scorers, Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo.
